Sunday 12th February- Spring is in the Air

Sunday again already. The day starts with a swim then the breakfast of champions. Hand squeezed orange juice,  smashed avocado,  with poached eggs on toast.
The sun is shining although it is a little hazy. We take the shuttle down towards the lighthouse and spend half an hour watching the birds on the salt lagoon. The usual suspects are present including Intermediate Egrets, a Grey Heron, Common Greenshank, Spoonbills and a different large bird which is identified as a juvenile Purple Heron. Clearly spring is in the air and the Spoonbills are getting quite amorous.
Lunch is Chinese and a little disappointing. We should have spotted that everybody else is ordering toasties. We follow up with more birdwatching and just make the shuttle home. After a suitable rest we prepare supper and indulge in a Zoom call back to the frozen North (and South West). The microwave here is a bit feeble but just about manages to crisp up the poppadoms.
Beer of the day. It might be surprising that San Miguel has not yet featured but it is a beer that D consumes at home from time to time. Unlike the stuff at home this one is not manufactured at Carlsberg's mega-keggery in Northampton. It's OK but nothing special and does not justify the €0.20 brand premium. ***(out of five).

  1. That breakfast. It looks delicious. No pints of draught beer ?

  2. Our bungalow is quite well equipped but doesn't run to a beer tap.
