Saturday 18th February - Writer's Day Off.
A thoroughly idle day today but the pace will pick up soon. D listens to football and does
Duolingo quite a lot in an attempt to avoid two successive demotions. R does artistic things. We are quite pleased not to have made plans for the afternoon as it hammers down for about an hour.
One discovery that we made in the supermarket last night were bags of mixed biscuits like the ones that we enjoyed in Costa Rica.
As this is lunch, a beer is permissible. Not only are the avocados good here but the eggs are really splendid. We realise that this is a repeat.
The beer of the day is Cruzcampo Gran Reserva, another one out of the Heineken stable. Quite pricey and a hefty 6.4% ABV, it is rather better than most and doesn't taste like a strong beer. **** (Out of five).
Luckily it isn't the chef's day off and between being artistic she produces an excellent lunch and an even better supper.
Looks like a version of paella! Looks like big shrimp or as they are known langostinos!
ReplyDeleteSi. Called langostinos in the supermarcado which confused us a bit.
DeleteGalda Chingri in Bengal. Jumbo prawns to the rest of the world :D
ReplyDeleteIs that bhej pulao?
Will trade the packet of mixed biscuits for a packet of orange bites. Aye?
Not bhej pulao. Contains chopped up pork tenderloin and stuff we had in the fridge. A sort of rough and ready paella but using the wrong rice.
DeleteNo kids to bribe here so orange bites not needed. We are still younger than most of the visitors.
